This mixture of metal and dub reggae comes off as an attempt to answer the question, “What if King Tubby had recorded Helmet?” Their efforts at thinking outside the box are noble, and are most solid when they stick to straight-ahead dub (“Drive-By Dub”) and the more spacey experiments (“Extract”). Things are less successful, however, when they start incorporating the crunchy metal riffs because the switch from one style to another is so jarring that it sounds like someone clicking from one radio station to the next rather than one fluid thought.
