Like Johnny Thunders and Lou Reed, the Disconnects seem to possess the natural ability to turn on a dime, making room for ballsy, bluesy, punk rock’n’roll as well as teenage, lonely hearts ballads. This is not to say that Wake up Dead is some sentimental, copycat walk down memory lane. It sounds new and old at the same time. It has style and attitude without punk kitsch. Turn this mother fucker up, loud!
