Boston’s got a lot of hardcore history, and Disaster Strikes aims to claim a piece of it. With ardently political lyrics and blistering guitars (and a special guest appearance by Jello Biafra), they declare their general dissatisfaction with most of the world we live in, but especially the current political regime in Washington. As much as I agree with the band’s politics, this isn’t what I’m looking for in a rock band. I don’t need to be preached to, and if I wanted to hear political commentary I’d switch to NPR. On the other hand, if you’re into hardcore influenced social commentary, then Disaster Strikes have got a something they want to say to you.
