DIRTYARD: Self-titled: 7”

Jul 03, 2009

I applaud the DIY efforts of Dirtyard. Their 7” record sleeves are constructed from old record jackets (mine is from the band Pieces Of A Dream), the covers are silk screened, and the record comes with a crudely constructed, Xeroxed lyric booklet with a wood cutout on the cover. Cool stuff. The music is not my cup of tea at all. There’s some hardcore tendencies mixed with a bit of reggae and it sounds like it was recorded with the band in one room and the mics in another. I appreciate the spirit behind this release and hope these dudes figure out what they’re trying to do and write some better songs.
