Devo: The Complete Truth About De-Evolution: DVD

Jul 03, 2014

I was but a child when Devo entered my consciousness with “Whip It.” It was such a great song. I would sit there with my radio waiting for it to come on again, so I could record it with my tape player and listen to it over and over again. It would be many years until I would realize just how important and influential the band is. It was like a light bulb exploding in my mind. The levels of subversive behavior wrapped in seemingly radio-friendly music were mind blowing. I obsessed over the band (and still do). They were pioneers of so much, especially in the use of video. This DVD compiles most, if not all, of Devo’s early videos. It is really amazing to watch and wonder how the mainstream managed to embrace the band, even if it was only for a nanosecond. Along with the twenty music videos, this disc sports many extras including live footage from the early ‘70s through the ‘90s, a gallery of photos and releases, commentary from both Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale, and a film called Mongoloid by Bruce Conner. It is an amazing trip through the world of Devo. I highly recommend it! –Ty Stranglehold (MVD Visual, 203 Winsor Rd., Pottstown, PA19464)
