DAS LLAMAS: World War: CD

Dec 13, 2007

I am probably going to get kicked out of the Seattle Scene Clubhouse for saying this, but Das Llamas doesn’t really do anything for me. It’s not bad by any means, and I can see why a lot of people would dig it: new wave and dance influences weave into punk drive and good old-fashioned rock’n’roll cockiness, with solid vocals and competent musicianship. I’d dance to it in a club or bob my head along in a friend’s car, but I wouldn’t pick it out to play at home. I’ve heard nothing but good about them from local press, friends, and acquaintances, so this may just be a perfect example of an album being unable to live up to too much hype. –Sarah Shay
