BAT BITES, THE: Self-titled: CD

If you’re still lamenting the loss of Lookout Records, you might like this disc. The Bat Bites deliver masked and caped pop punk straight from the ‘90s. They’ve got the riffs. They’ve got the solos. They’ve got the singalongs. But everything’s too slick. Production-wise, the music leans too close to the pop side of the spectrum. I need more rough edges. I need something to grab onto so I don’t slide right through an album like it’s an aural slip-and-slide. I just couldn’t find it here.
