Retro rock similar to Shannon And The Clams. The A side is the original and most upbeat of the two. The playing is more than competent and the backing vocals give the song character. It’s really keen, as the young people are fond of saying these days. However, it’s the Archie’s cover of “Sugar Sugar” on the flipside that is the standout. It’s slowed way down, largely acoustic, and with more texture than the original. (I like the Archies, and it’s not some irony thing either.) The song goes from being the bubblegum hit that you have heard for years and years to being something new. The vocals are airy and the dual vocals chorus takes it to another level. This song is reason alone to pick this single up. It is that good.
