There’s no two ways about it, Abolitionist has once again raised its game based on the three tracks on this split—it’s like the band has undergone some big transformation and these songs blow away everything else that has gone before. I love the power and drive in these songs and it’s making me excited for the new album, Pathogen, due out later this year. Rubrics offer up five tracks of energetic punk rock that bring to mind a host of bands from the Lookout! explosion of the 1980s / 1990s, including Crimpshine and Operation Ivy, where attitude and endeavor found favor over a pristine sound—the best stuff I’ve heard from this band too.
