#396 with Kurt Morris: Razorcake Podcast
I go to the gym pretty frequently—usually three or four times a week. If you had told me when I was sixteen that I’d be a gym rat…well, I probably would’ve believed you because I was already lifting weights back then. That’s not to say I’m huge—I do it as much for the mental as the physical. I get irritable, depressed, and anxious without a way to get my energy out. There’s often a good deal of self-loathing in there, too. I need an outlet and lifting weights and riding the spin bike do it for me.
Over the years I’ve learned that a good session of lifting takes me about 50 minutes, so I made this podcast to last about that long and with less talk. I don’t want you or me to lose that rhythm or energy you’re expending because I’m telling a story only I find funny about a band I saw fifteen years ago.
I’m not going to lie—I did this podcast as much for me as for you. I want some solid tunes to help me get out that last set when the muscles burn, or to push a little harder on the spin bike when I’m feeling spent. Hopefully you can get something out of it, too. Take it to the gym or on your run and let me know how it goes.
