ANGRY YOUTH ELITE: All Riot: LP/CD

Sep 22, 2023

I’m a fussy bugger these days when it comes to the kind of bands that are either on, or would fit well with, Fat Wreck and/or Epitaph. I think it’s probably a case of me embracing those labels and their releases so wholeheartedly over the years. This German quartet certainly fits the bill in terms of what could have been heard via Fat Wreck but, even with my jaded ears, Angry Youth Elite manages to grab and maintain my interest for twenty-five minutes. Sung in English and with a production that has EpiFat written all over it, the band provides an energetic and melodic eleven songs, which, despite the occasional tangent into NOFX territory, I find myself nodding along to. The quality wavers a bit towards the end of the album but, after a strong first half dozen songs, it doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyment I get from All Riot. –Rich Cocksedge (Bakraufarfita, [email protected], bakraufarfite-records.de)
