ALL HITS: Men and Their Work: LP

Portland, Ore. trio completely slaying on their debut LP. Taut and nervy throughout, with a definite Slant 6 vibe—“Blockhead” repeats the word “violation” a bunch with an urgency and cadence that might be a nod to “Time Expired” on Soda Pop * Rip Off, but with a more muscular vocal delivery, akin to (but not sounding like) Marissa from Screaming Females or Rebecca from Negative Scanner. Great hooky basslines that provide a framework for the drums and trebly, stabling guitar throughout, taking unexpected turns into melody and/or dissonance. I love this record. –Michael T.
