ABRAZOS: Nothing Gets Changed by Being Polite: LP

May 24, 2022

This is the debut album from Abrazos, a three-piece from the South Coast of England. The album title gives you an idea of where the band is coming from, reluctant to hold back in its criticism of what is wrong with the world today. There’s a definite UK82 feel to the band but with a lot more drive than some of those original bands had. With twenty-one tracks in just under twenty minutes there’s no hanging around here and the brevity works well, other than having to get up to flip the record over. The dual vocals work effectively although it wasn’t until late on in my first spin that I realized it wasn’t just the one vocalist. The members of Bratakus provide the vocals to “Halfcore,” which creates a slight diversion to the rest of the record. Very good, angry punk rock. –Rich Cocksedge (Suspect Device, [email protected], suspectdevicehq.blogspot.com)
