I love the trajectory of Nearby—severely fuzzed/blackened garage punk that slowly reduces itself to pure damaged tones. A bit like The Gories gradually embracing a Wolf Eyes mindset. Or maybe the model was Berlin-era Bowie? The structured, song-based A-side, the more exploratory, experimental B-side. Cacophonous, otherworldly, and very real. Bless this band. –Matt Werts (Big Neck, bigneckrecords1.bandcamp.com)
