I’m not exactly sure how an EP can have only two songs, but this band is composed largely of members of (Boy)Mouth, so I’m just rolling with it. There is, actually, precedent: A Bob Dylan EP containing “Ballad of a Thin Man” b/w “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues”—sporting a running time of close to eleven and a half minutes—was released in France in 1965. So, really, 106.7 The Peak are clearly following in the neo-traditionalist footsteps of decorated ’60s icons, and the two-song EP is very much a real thing. I would continue uttering profundities of this nature, but I just mentioned (Boy)Mouth and Bob Dylan in the same review, somewhat unironically, so I think I’ll end on a high note as befits this continued litany of genius. BEST SONG: “Jake Boymouthcoil.” BEST SONG TITLE: “Bourbon Song.” FANTASTIC AMAZING TRIVIA FACTS: This record is one of two I reviewed this issue that was recorded in three different time zones, and 106.7 The Peak appears to be an actual country station from Michigan, ergo, this may be the greatest band name ever. –Rev.
