Need a crash course in musicology? This is the disc for you. Ms. Mongrel and her cohorts take zydeco, blues, country, art rock, waltz, and a gaggle of other musical styles and mush ’em all together in each song and effectively create their own weird, yet hummable, brand of music. While most people I know would probably hate this disc with a passion, this has a certain charm and there’s virtually no pretentiousness involved. Nice, original music for a change.
